Making a Donation to NHS Lothian Charity

NHS Lothian Charity is the official charity of NHS Lothian, working in strategic partnership to help enhance care and enrich healthcare experiences not only for patients but for staff too.

The Charity supports projects that are not part of NHS standard delivery; from life-saving research that has the potential to transform the life chances of patients, to a wide range of smaller projects that support innovation or make hospital admissions and visits less overwhelming and more comfortable.

You can find out more about the projects they support and how to make a donation or fundraise for your chosen ward or department by visiting: nhslothiancharity.org or emailing fundraising@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk

Influence Our Work

Why?

NHS Lothian wants to develop, design and deliver our services in partnership with the people who use them.  Your involvement is essential because it helps us improve our services and make sure they are responsive to local needs.

How?

Influencing our work takes many forms. The most obvious opportunities are when services are changing. Sometimes this is because things need updating or upgrading. At other times the aim is to improve efficiency or to resolve long standing issues.

When?

We want to involve people in these changes as early as possible in the process. Working in partnership with people who use our services creates a dialogue that highlights strengths, generates ideas and points to where further change is needed.

We will use social media as well as these web pages to advertise opportunities for people to get involved in what we are doing and you can also sign up to see all our opportunities to get involved as soon as they are issued.

What can voluntary work do for me?

It provides an opportunity to help other people, learn new skills, have fun, make new friends, improve your employability, increase confidence, become involved in the local community, access training opportunities and offer you a challenge.

Who can Volunteer?

We welcome anyone 16 years or over to apply to become a Volunteer. No special skills are required; all we ask is that you can offer your time, commitment and reliability.

Presently volunteers are involved in:

Befriending, guiding and welcoming, information giving, health promotion, helping at clinics and events, fundraising, peer support, library, café and shops, ward visitors, ward helpers, transport, chaplaincy, therapeutic care and much more! Volunteers greatly enhance the experience of patients across NHS Lothian – your  time will be very well spent!
