NHS Lothian Board approved the Involving People, Improving the People's Experience of our Care - NHS Lothian Strategy 2009-2013 and Involving People, Improving the People's Experience of our Care - Action Plan 2009-2013 at the meeting on 22 July 2009. The covering paper to the NHS Board meeting, which sets out the process of development can be obtained by going to A Framework for Mutuality - Involving, People, Improving People’s Experience of Care Strategy and Action Plan 2009 - 2013.
Reporting on the implementation of the Action Plan will be to the
Involving People Group and
Improving People’s Experience of Care Group, which in turn report to the Healthcare Governance and Risk Management Committee (a sub-committee of the Board)
The Strategy and Action Plan built on the work of the NHS Lothian Strategic Context and Patient Focus and Public Involvement Action Plan (2005 -08) developed during 2005.
In June 2005 we held a workshop with patients, carers, voluntary organisation and local authority staff to find how patient focus and public involvement in NHS Lothian could be improved. We listened to what we were told and drafted an action plan. Click on the link to view the NHS Lothian Strategic Context and Patient Focus and Public Involvement Action Plan.
Other policy papers and links will be added in the future.
NHS Lothian has developed guidance to help NHS staff when they are involving patients, carers and the public in improving or developing services. NHS Lothian has set up Quality Improvement Teams, which have been asked to develop and implement quality improvement programmes. The programmes are part of NHS Lothian's Clinical Governance and Risk Management Strategy. Download the Guidance on Patient Focus and Public Involvement.
