The NHS Lothian Involving People Framework 2014 - 2017 was agreed by the Healthcare Governance Committee in March 2014 and will be presented at the June 2014 Board meeting for ratification.  The Framework supersedes the Involving People, Improving the People’s Experience of our Care – NHS Lothian Strategy 2009 – 2013.  It was informed by discussion with, and feedback from, members of the Improving the Patient Experience Group (IPEG), Involving People Group (IPG) and Clinical Information for Patients (CLIP) group all of which included public members, NHS Lothian staff and the Scottish Health Council.

The Framework supports the implementation of the propositions contained in the Our Health, Our Care, Our Future, the NHS Lothian Strategic Plan 2014 – 2024 and NHS Lothian’s corporate objectives. The Framework covers actions and projects including: the development of hospital based patient forums; volunteering; equality and diversity and the national person centred care programme.

The Framework outlines the final agreed future format which transforms the current meeting structure of the aforementioned groups into a workshop format.  Workshops will inform and develop public involvement practice and activity including volunteering; equality and diversity and the national person centred care programme and will involve NHS Lothian staff, partners and people from communities and organisations across Lothian.
