How to make a referral

Referrals are generally made through the GP to the Referrals Manager.  Other professionals involved in an individual’s care may also make a referral with the agreement of the GP.

If the referral is suitable we make contact by letter to let people know they have been placed on our waiting list.  We endeavour to see all referrals as quickly as possible.   Each patient receives an assessment prior to commencing treatment.  Some individuals may be offered a group screening appointment; this will involve a 50 minute assessment to see if a group approach would be helpful.  During this meeting the person may of course opt for individual therapy.  Where individual therapy is most appropriate, the first meeting with the therapist will last for approximately 90 minutes.
