Welcome to the St John's Hospital diabetes department web pages.

We have put up a few documents that are available in the clinic.  These include the department of diabetes clinic guide.  In this, you will find information on how our clinic runs, some of the educational courses that are available and importantly what you should do if you are not feeling very well with an illness.

There is also some guidance on low blood glucose levels.  We are particularly concerned about people avoiding low blood glucose levels (hypoglycaemia).

If you are having any problems with low blood glucose levels we very much encourage you to get in contact with us urgently by email or phone.  If you have had to call out the paramedics or somebody else has had to help you with a severe hypo we would very much like to know about this.

Finally, we have produced some guidance on very low calorie diets.  These might be suitable for some people with Type 2 diabetes.  If you are interested in this sort of short-term weight reduction strategy, please have a look at the booklet.  ifyou think it would be for you then please discuss it with your healthcare professional.

As time goes on we would hope to add more information on this website.  We would be very keen to hear from you about things you would like to see on the website.

With all best wishes
