Diabetes Clinics and Contacts

The first point of contact for patients is to see your GP.

If you are a new patient in the Lothian area see your GP in the first instance.

In Lothian, diabetes clinics are based at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Western General Hospital, St Johns Hospital in Livingston, and The Royal Hospital for Sick Children with outreach clinics at Roodlands Hospital, Leith Community Treatment Centre.

Diabetic Retinopathy Screening

Routine eye screening is performed within the diabetes clinics with specialist support through the ophthalmology department at the Princess Alexander Eye Pavilion.

Diabetes in Primary Care

Many GP practices run diabetes clinics or have dedicated appointment time for patients with Type 2 Diabetes in their surgeries. Check with your practice for more details.
