People living in Lothian who have difficulty managing incontinence issues or have certain medical conditions may be eligible for a laundry service. The Community Laundry Service accepts applications from Lothian residents of any age following an assessment by community care worker or healthcare professional, such as a community nurse.
If the request meets the Service criteria, single bed sheets will be provided free of charge and the Service covers their laundering, delivery and collection. The service is delivered weekly and managed by the Continence Care Service. Delivery drivers operate from clearly marked NHS vehicles, are uniformed and display identification.
The Community Laundry Service is funded by NHS Lothian, The City of Edinburgh Council, West Lothian Council, East Lothian Council and Midlothian Council.
You can request the service for yourself or someone you care for by contacting Social Care Direct on 0131 200 2324. Healthcare staff at your local G.P. surgery can also make a referral.
