Community HIV Team
The Community HIV Team (CHIV) is a team of three Community Mental Health Nurses and three Clinical Psychologists.
One Psychologist post is based at the Department of Genito-Urinary Medicine and is both concerned with patients who are putting themselves at risk of HIV infection through risky sexual behaviour and those who are already infected.

The third Psychologist, and the nursing team, provide a service for individuals experiencing mental health problems and who are infected, affected or at risk of HIV infection.
They will assess clients and can offer support within their home environment. They also liaise with other service providers regarding issues relating to mental health/ HIV. These posts are based at the Spittal Street Centre and take referrals from the Regional Infectious Diseases Unit, GUM, General Practitioners, statutory and non statutory agencies.
