NHS Lothian CAMHS is made up of a number of different teams.

Outpatient teams

Outpatient teams offer appointments in hospitals and local health centres. They may work with you on your own, in a group, or with your family.

You may be referred to an outpatient team by your GP, social worker, teacher or another professional who knows you. They should take time to explain to you why they are contacting CAMHS.

Specialist teams

You may be referred to a team who have particular skills to help you with your problems. These include:

  • The Meadows: Child and Adolescent Sexual Trauma Service
  • The Child Learning Disabilities and Autism Team
  • The Paediatric Psychology and Liaison Service (PPALS)
  • Edinburgh Connect (for Looked After and Accommodated Children)
  • The Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD) schools and youth justice community mental health worker service (CMHWs)
  • The North-West and South-West Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) teams

Day and inpatient services

Day and inpatient services provide care for children and young people who need intensive help and support . These services are:

  • The Forteviot day programme which works with children and young people up to 12 years of age
  • The Day Programme which works with young people aged between 12 and 18
  • The Early Psychosis Support Service (EPSS)
  • The Inpatient Unit
  • The Intensive Treatment Service
