Flood works start on site

Part of the works to enable the site for the new hospital include upgrading the flood prevention on the current site.
Piling work will start today on an area which runs to the East of the main ward block and along the Niddrie Burn.
The initial works were carried out towards the edge of the site. These works are now set to move towards the hospital and we anticipate that there will be a bit more noise and possibly vibration during part of these works, especially as it approaches the hospital buildings at the South East corner near the Vanguard unit.
We are doing everything possible to alleviate any noise and potential vibrations. If they do occur we expect that they will diminish as the works move away from the hospital buildings.
These works are scheduled to take nine weeks, after which time the piles will be cut down and the grounds will be landscaped. We expect these works to be completed in February 2015.
Thank you for your patience and ongoing support during these works as we look to enhance the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and prepare the site for the new RHSC + DCN.
