Work on a new £1.5m GP surgery in Ratho started in January 2017 after contracts were agreed by NHS Lothian and the local developer of the site.
Plans to build a new GP surgery in Ratho were approved by NHS Lothian in November 2014 and a planning application was approved by the City of Edinburgh Council in June 2015.

The the existing surgery increase will in capacity, when it relocates from Baird Road to the new purpose built facility on 14a Wilkieston Road on the west side of the village.
The surgery will provide improved accommodation for the local community to meet the demand for healthcare services from a growing local population.
The new medical centre will have five consulting rooms, one treatment room, a waiting area and a staff meeting room. The development will also have on-site parking and will be accessible by public transport.
