East Lothian Community Hospital initial agreement approved - August 2014

The project to build a new East Lothian Community Hospital has taken a step forward with initial plans for the building having now been approved. The team working on the development are preparing a business case for the project.

The Community Hospital will provide a number of services which could include orthopaedics and stroke rehabilitation, enhanced imaging, and a social care day unit. Construction on the site could begin in 2015, with services operational by the end of 2017.

Costs for the East Lothian Community Hospital will be further defined through the Outline Business Case. This will be submitted in 2015 at which point exact funding and location of the hospital will be confirmed. The preferred site for the new facility is currently Roodlands Hospital in Haddington.
