The Wester Hailes Healthy Living Centre is a joint development between NHS Lothian and the City of Edinburgh Council (link to CEC).  It will be situated on the Harvesters Way site to the south of the Westside Plaza shopping centre.

The centre will include the Wester Hailes Medical Practice and a range of NHS Lothian community health services. The City of Edinburgh Council will provide  local  social care services for people of all ages and for families.  The local voluntary organisation, the Wester Hailes Health Agency will also be located at the centre.

The business case was approved by NHS Lothian in June 2009.

The building will be procured through public sector capital investment and will be one of the first projects in Scotland delivered by Hubco for south-east Scotland. It is anticipated that the Centre will open in 2013.

What is hubCo (or the hub initiative)?

Public sector organisations across the south east of Scotland will work in partnership with each other and a private sector delivery partner in a joint venture called hubo.

The hub initiative is led by the Scottish Futures Trust on behalf of the Scottish Government.  Five hub territories are planned. Planning permission for the Wester Hailes Healthy Living Centre was granted in April 2011.
