Review of children’s inpatient services – public meetings

NHS Lothian would like to thank everyone who took the time to attend the public meetings on the current review of inpatient hospital care for children.

A total of eight meetings – two events in each area of Lothian – were arranged to ensure people who are interested in hospital care for children had an opportunity to express their views.

NHS Lothian has asked the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) to conduct an independent expert review of the inpatient services at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh and St John’s Hospital, Livingston.

All feedback gathered at these meetings has been submitted to the RCPCH review team for inclusion in their process.

The team of experts at the RCPCH is carrying out an extensive and robust analysis of the current service to ensure that NHS Lothian can continue to deliver safe, effective and sustainable patient care. In addition to the public meetings, the College has gathered views through an online survey and a series of intense focus groups held with patients, parents and carers. The RCPCH team is expected to present its report to NHS Lothian in May.
