Temporary changes to car parking at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh

NHS Lothian is asking patients and visitors to be aware of temporary changes to car parking at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (RIE).

Car park A, the car park closest to the entrance for the Simpson Centre for Reproductive Health and the Lothian Birth Centre, will be closed from Monday 21 January 2013 for five to six weeks.

Diversions will be in place and patients and visitors will be asked to park in car park D. Access to the drop-off point at the entrance to the Simpson Centre and the Birth Centre will still be available.

The work to car park A is part of a programme of developments that are taking place on the RIE site to improve services and prepare for the building of the replacement Royal Hospital for Sick Children and the department of clinical neurosciences.

George Curley, Director of Operations – Facilities, NHS Lothian, said: “We would like to apologise to patients and visitors for any inconvenience caused by this temporary change in car parking.

“There will be a lot of developments taking place on the RIE site in the years ahead and we will do all we can to minimise disruption to patients and visitors.”
