Blackburn Partnership Centre Moves a Step Closer

Work on the new Blackburn Partnership Centre moved a step further following the announcement of the contractor today (13 August 2013).

NHS Lothian and West Lothian Council are working in partnership with hub South East Scotland Limited to develop and deliver the facility.

Contractor Graham Construction has been selected to develop the site and Gareth Hoskins Architects has been appointed as the architectural team.

The new £7.3 million Blackburn Partnership Centre will include the relocation of the existing Ashgrove Medical Practice, and accommodation for a wide range of community health services including, community nursing, podiatry, physiotherapy and a general dental practitioner.

Council services will include the relocation of the library, Customer Information Service (CIS) centre and community centre (including sports hall, multi-purpose community space, space for early years’ provision, young people’s space, meeting room space, IT training suite and a training kitchen.

Blackburn, Seafield & District Credit Union will also relocate to the new building.

Brian Houston, Chair, NHS Lothian, said: “We are delighted that this project is getting off the ground. The new Centre will see us working closely with our partners, West Lothian Council, to provide more integrated health and community services to the local community.”

The development is anticipated to be completed by the winter 2015.
