Midlothian Community Hospital receives new bench

Bonnyrigg and Lasswade Community Council make donation

A new bench will take pride of place in the courtyard of Midlothian Community Hospital after being donated by Bonnyrigg and Lasswade Community Council.

The bench will be officially handed over to Midlothian Community Hospital by Ian Baxter, Chair, Bonnyrigg and Lasswade Community Council on Monday 26 March.

David Small, general manager, East and Midlothian Community Health Partnerships, said: “Bonnyrigg and Lasswade Community Council played a vital role in the consultation and development of Midlothian Community Hospital and we are delighted to accept the donation of this bench from them.

“We work closely with all our community councils and they, along with the Midlothian Public Partnership Forum, play a key role in bringing forward experiences and suggestions in order to help develop our services.”

Ian Baxter, Chair, Bonnyrigg and Lasswade Community Council, said: “The new Midlothian Community Hospital is a tremendous asset to the people of Midlothian and we are very pleased and honoured to have it situated within our own community.”

“The community council felt that we would like to mark this by donating something which patients and visitors would find useful, and a bench seemed the ideal gift.”

Robert Clement, clinical nurse manager, Midlothian Community Hospital, said: “This is a wonderful gesture from the Community Council and I would like to thank them on behalf of the patients, family and staff of the Hospital.

“I’m sure that the bench will be well used and it will allow people to sit and relax in the hospitals lovely courtyard area.”
