Major Milestone for Musselburgh

A major milestone has been reached in the development of the planned, new £20 million Musselburgh Primary Care Centre with the external building now completed.

The building which extends to 6312.5 square metres also boasts a state of the art roof. The modern, self-cleaning atrium roof provides enhanced light throughout the boulevard and reception area which includes the entrances from Church Lane and Inveresk Road.

David Small, General Manager, East and Midlothian Community Health Partnerships, said:  “It’s exciting to see the development take shape and on schedule to be completed in the spring. The new Musselburgh Primary Care Centre will offer twenty-first century care for the people of Musselburgh and the wider community in East Lothian.”

The new Centre will accommodate three GP practices, such as paediatric and adult outpatient clinics, speech and language therapy, clinical psychology, children’s services, podiatry, physiotherapy, and community nursing. A new addition to the services will be two new community dental suites.

The majority of clinical services currently provided at Edenhall Hospital will be transferred over to the new centre when it opens. Plans for moving the remainder of services are under discussion and will be finalised shortly.

The development is on schedule to be completed in the spring.
