Love your lungs

NHS Lothian is inviting people across Lothian to love their lungs.

A special, free event is being held on Monday 23 May at Meadowbank Sports Centre for people affected by lung disease, their family and friends.

The ‘help yourself to health …love you lungs’ day will run from 11am until 3.30pm and will feature a wide range of activities and information to help those suffering from lung problems.

There will be a chance to try tai chi, indoor curling and other types of gentle exercise and opportunities to get active. As well as advice on how to best use inhalers, information on support for carers and on benefits and pensions, there will be an opportunity to challenge a GP with questions about living with lung disease.

Jane Dalrymple, Respiratory Managed Clinical Network Co-ordinator, NHS Lothian, said:

“This day has been designed to be fun and informative. Visitors can access support to help them manage their condition, try some new activities and get information from our voluntary sector partners.
“We will also be encouraging people to share their experiences in the hope that this will spark interest in peer support groups across Lothian.
“We are inviting people to join us for the whole day or just drop-in when they can.”

The event has been organised by Lothian Respiratory Managed Clinical Network (MCN) in association with Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland, Edinburgh Leisure, Asthma UK and the British Lung Foundation.
