NHS Lothian lifts leading PR awards

Plaudits in its five successes include Communications Team of the Year alongside a personal honour for Alexis Burnett, awarded the accolade of Communications Manager of the year.

The Communicators in Business Scotland 2009 Awards celebrates the achievements of Scotland’s private and public sector communications experts.

Jenifer Stirton, Director of Communications, NHS Lothian, said:

“I am absolutely delighted by our success in these awards against some extremely impressive opposition from both the public and the private sector in Scotland.
“I know I have an extremely good team and I’m delighted to see their work recognised in this way. I’m particularly pleased that the judges have recognised the achievements of Alexis Burnett. Alexis has been extremely successful both in raising the profile of Lothian’s new Community Health Partnerships and providing leadership to colleagues. In addition, she’s been instrumental in improving our staff newspaper, Connections, and it’s great to have notched up a double here, with Connections also being awarded the prize of Scotland’s best internal newspaper.”

Roy Carter, chairman, CiB Scotland and one of the contest judges said:

“The communications team at NHS Lothian clearly take pride in their work. Their creative work hits the spot, as feedback shows time after time. A particular highlight is the HIV Comeback Tour campaign, which is just outstanding and blew the judges away. In terms of communications best practice, NHS Lothian is lighting the way – I hope that others in the industry follow their example.”
