NHS Lothian in new surplus property disposal programme

A SUBSTANTIAL Victorian mansion house in one of Edinburgh's most prestigious areas is about to be sold by NHS Lothian.

The handsome property at 40 Colinton Road, no longer required by the health service, is one of 13 properties to be released for sale.

NHS Lothian has appointed residential property advisers DTZ Residential as agents to obtain the best return for patients.

John Jack, Director of Facilities, NHS Lothian, said:

NHS Lothian is determined to achieve the best return for our patients in everything we do, and that extends to ensuring that we are efficient in disposing of properties once it has been determined that they are no longer required.
It would not be prudent to give details on the expected returns from these sales but it is vital to note that the proceeds will be reinvested in patient care.

Graeme McCallum, Associate Director, DTZ Residential, said:

DTZ Residential is delighted to have been instructed by NHS Lothian in this important portfolio disposal.
We feel this will offer a great opportunity to purchasers wishing to acquire one or more of these interesting properties ranging from two bedroom cottages to substantial buildings suitable for conversion.
Our focus will be on providing a first class professional service with the maximum return and best value to our client.

In addition to the former mansion house, the properties being sold include two lodge cottages and a villa in Edinburgh's prestigious Grange district, two terraced villas in Morningside, and a number of other properties suitable for residential or business use.

The 40 Colinton Road property is the largest building in the disposal programme. It is currently being used as office accommodation.

Formerly known as Davaar House, the Victorian mansion house dates from 1893.

Other properties are currently being used for either office accommodation or for accommodation for medical staff on a temporary basis.

The properties involved will be formally advertised for sale this week (Thursday, 11th of January), with all sales to be processed by the end of March 2007. Further details of all the properties involved are available through DTZ Residential.
