 FAMILY MEMBERS OR FRIENDS who are concerned about the drink or drug behaviour of someone else.
 Are you worried about someone's drinking or drug use?

These courses are offered through a partnership between Lothian Alcohol Problems Service and VOCAL Family Support Service.Open to family members or friends who are concerned about the drink or drug behaviour of someone else. The course usually runs on 3 consecutive Tuesday Evenings from:

6.30pm – 8pm at VOCAL Carers Centre 8-13 Johnston Terrace, Edinburgh EH1 2PW. PLEASE CONTACT VOCAL DIRECTLY FOR THE NEXT AVAILABLE DATES.

COMAS Serenity Recovery Coaching Training. COMAS offer Recovery Coaching SQA accredited and delivered by Serenity Cafe Staff Trainers. This training is suitable for Staff working with People coming into recovery, Staff in front line Harm Reduction agencies, People new  into recovery, Service Users going onto become peer supporters or Board members wanting to understand recovery better. The courses are SQA rated courses of Self Coaching SCQF level 5 and Recovery Coaching in Practice SCQF level 7.

SELF COACHING is back at Serenity Cafe in July
The certificate in self coaching is an SQA accredited course at SCQF Level 5. Suitable for people at all stages of recovery to develop self awareness and introduce  self management tools based on recovery capital.

Dates for July 2015
The course will run over a course of 3 weeks on the following dates:
  • Friday 3rd July 9am - 4.30pm
  • Friday 10th July 9am - 4.30pm
  • Friday 17th July 9am - 4.30pm.

Course fees
  • Workers - £120 per person
  • Peers - £50 per person.

STAFF
An Alcohol Brief Interventions (ABI) elearning Module is available via the Edinburgh Community Learning & Development Partnership.
 
Have a look at the ABI Training poster which includes a link to register and access this free online training.
 
The course takes approximately 30mins and is available to staff within NHS Lothian, City of Edinburgh Council, West Lothian Council, East Lothian Council and Midlothian Council, as well as members of the public.
 
 
STAFF & VOLUNTEERS
STRADA run a number of free courses for anyone working in statutory health care and social care services plus voluntary services working with alcohol and drug service users. They offer a number of 1, 2 and 3 day courses covering a variety of topics such as Substance Misuse in Pregnancy, Alcohol Related Brain Damage, Motivational Interviewing and Behaviour Change.  Click here to view course titles and contact details.
