Services Available

A full range of primary care services are available including investigations, family planning, contraceptive services, maternity services, travel advice, immunisations, wart treatment and health checks.

 

District Nurses - (552 7709)

There are community district nurses attached to the practice who provide nursing care for housebound patients. They are based at Longhouse Medical Practice


Health Visitor’s - (260 9222)

The Health Visitor runs Baby Clinics. Please telephone for an appointment. She is also available for advice on childcare, pregnancy and the elderly

 

Promoting Health

In addition to guidance offered by your doctor in routine consultations, we offer specific appointments with the Practice Nurse.  These are directed at various areas of concern - Smoking, High Blood Pressure, Heart Disease, Diabetes and Asthma.


Home Visits

If you require a home visit please telephone before 11 am.
If you wish to speak to one of the doctors personally, please telephone around 12.15pm or 3.15 pm.


Elderly

We strongly recommend that all elderly patients receive the Flu vaccination, which is available from October.


Carers Information Scotland  

Care Information Scotland provides access to quality assured information on care and social care Services in Scotland. Managed by NHS 24, the service has recently expanded to provide a central and first point of access to all.
 
If you look after someone, need care yourself or are planning for your future care needs, you can get the information and advice you need from Care Information Scotland. The service has been designed as a central point allowing people access to comprehensive, accurate and up-to-date information, either for themselves, a relative or a friend. The service is also a helpful source of information for health and care professionals who are able to direct people to the information service as required.
 
NHS 24 has worked in partnership with the Scottish Government and care organisations to expand the service to help ensure the re-designed website, web chat and telephone service meets the needs of people in Scotland.

Carers Support

Inverleith Medical Practice, working in partnership with a charity called VOCAL (Voice of Carers Across Lothian) to support carers. VOCAL can provide advice, information, training and other supports to carers. This support can help carers all situations and people tell us they benefit from contact even if they are coping well right now.
