In order to deal with urgent medical problems the receptionist may ask why you need to see the Doctor. This is so you are not waiting unnecessarily and can be directed to the appropriate healthcare professional. Depending on demand.

There are some problems which can be dealt with by telephone without actually needing to see a Doctor. Arrangements can be made via the receptionists for a Doctor to phone you. The receptionist will ask you for details of the problem to allow the Doctor to prepare and to ensure that it is an appropriate problem to be dealt with by telephone. It may still be necessary to ask you to come in to the surgery, if the problem turns out to be more complicated than first thought. It may also be that another member of the Practice team is better placed than a Doctor to deal with it. Please note there are a limited number of telephone consultations available and only appropriate problems will be dealt with through this system

Remember the surgery is closed on a Monday between 1.00pm and 2.00pm.

Practice Nurse Appointments

We have two practice nurses who provide a range of services including cervical screening, taking bloods, dressings, ear syringing and travel information. They are trained on giving advice on how to achieve a healthy lifestyle. Areas of concern are smoking, high blood pressure, heart disease, diet and exercise.

Sister Romanis runs a weekly Asthma / COPD Clinic. Jill Martin runs a Diabetic Clinic. Both Nurses run Coronary Heart Disease clinics.

A full range of primary care services is available, including Family Planning, Maternity Care and Child Health checks. We are committed to preventive medicine and our nurses run health promotion clinics.
