Social Work Services
The Social Work department in Midlothian provides services to people in need. Staff work with people on a personal basis. They try to work with the person to identify what their needs are and how those needs should be met.
Some of the services provided are:
- Community care services for older people and people with a disability
For example residential care, respite care, day care services, meals on wheels, community alarm scheme, equipment and adaptations for your home, home care services, residential care, respite care and day care services.
- Services for families and children
For example support to families in their homes, services to prevent family breakdown, child protection services, fostering and adoption services.
- Criminal Justice services
For example support to victims of crime, support to families of prisoners, supervising offenders in the community, providing alternatives to custody.
For practical help for yourself, or someone in your care, contact one of the local social work centres (see below). Priority for receiving services depends on your level of need.
