School Nurses

The Role of the School Nurse

School Nurses work in teams to cover specific localities. Each school has a named nurse as its first point of contact. They are skilled in working with children of school age and have a long tradition of working with families and communities to promote health.

School Nurses have close links with education staff, Community Paediatricians, Health Visitors and professionals from other agencies.  They can provide support and advice on a range of child health issues.
